America’s Persistence in Repeating Its Foreign Policy Failures

The United States, following failed military operations against Iran, has now announced a new plan under the label “Operation Economic Outcast”. This move is essentially a return to Washington’s failed 47-year policy of confrontation against Iran—a strategy that is destined to fail once again.

Just as the Trump administration was unable to form a military coalition, it will also fail in building an economic alliance. So far, China, Russia, and many countries in the Middle East, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Global South have refused to join this illegal and illegitimate campaign. These sanctions harm civilians while strengthening the spirit of resistance within Iran.

Given its civilizational and historical standing and geopolitical resilience, Iran cannot be isolated. Sharing borders with 15 countries and being situated across five major geographic regions makes Iran an indispensable player in international affairs. U.S actions constitute an unlawful attempt to project domestic law extraterritorially to compel sovereign states to alter their lawful economic interests and trades relations.

Previously, the United States entered into conflict with Iran based on miscalculations and failed to achieve any of its objectives—including so-called “regime change, territorial disintegration, dismantling Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities.” Repeating these flawed calculations will inflict severe damages on the global economy, driving up fuel prices and accelerating the process of de-dollarization worldwide.

Instability and insecurity in West Asia are direct consequences of these policies, leading to higher costs for energy, food, and agricultural products across the globe. The Trump administration’s global credibility has plummeted to its lowest level due to these recurring failures, diminishing its standing both domestically and internationally.

Given America’s unlawful and extraterritorial behavior, the United Nations must play an active role in preventing such actions, and all countries should condemn these illegal policies. Without doubt, the United States will be held accountable for these unjustifiable measures and will be forced to compensate for the damages caused. This “coercive policy” of extortion, like its predecessors, is bound to fail.
